In order to achieve the goal of proving you with a proper jewerly appraisal, Bill Hoefer has achieved the following:
He is a Graduate Gemologist (Gemological Institute of America - GIA) with additional certificates in Diamond Grading and Evaluation, Colored Stone & Gem Identification, Colored Stones Grading, Pearls as well as an additional diploma as a Gemologist.
Bill also holds the coveted Gemmologist diploma from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A).
He wrote - for the Jewelers' Educational Foundation (JEF), in conjunction with the American Gem Society (AGS) - the Advanced Personal Property Appraisal (APPA) course. This is a course that teaches advanced as well as basic appraisal methodology, ethics, procedures and report writing.
He developed and presented three appraisal seminars:

He wrote and instructed - for the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) - the advanced course 301 Expert Witness.
Bill holds four certificates of completion from Indiana University, in conjunction with ISA on Personal Property Appraising (101, 102, 103 and 104).
He has a Certificate of Proficiency as an Attorney Assistant from West Valley College.
He has developed the following websites for jewelry appraisers:
Bill owned Master Jewelers in San Jose, California for ten years - rendering custom jewelry, repairs as well as selling diamonds and colored gemstones. Enhancing his skills as a goldsmith, he holds four certificates of completion from Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in Advanced Goldsmithing, Goldsmithing, Mokume Gane and Granulation.
He also received the following awards from ISA: Outstanding Member Award, Lamp of Knowledge Award, Distinguished Service Award, Media Award and a second Lamp of Knowledge Award.
In addition to awards, he was given certificates of appreciation as follows: Legal Research (course 105), Developing Continuing Appraisal Education on the ISA Net, Service to Appraisal Service Committee, Reviewing Gem & Jewelry Appraisal Assignments, Contribution to ISA Newsletter and Assistance to Designation and Review Committee, Authoring Expert Witness (course 301) and Instructing First Offering of Expert Witness (course 301).
